Pearl Meatball (珍珠丸子)

Pearl Meatball (珍珠丸子)


-1/2 cup of soaked glutinous rice (soaked for 1 hours)
-250g ground pork
-1 table spoon light soy sauce
-1 table spoon rice wine
-1 table spoon fish sauce
-2 table spoon of sesame oil
-dash of pepper
-food coloring
-Hoisin sauce


In a bowl, soak glutinous rice in water for a minimum of 1 hour.

Add a drop or two of food coloring

Using a separate bowl, mix the pork, fish sauce, light soy sauce, rice wine, sesame oil, and pepper until just combined.

Roll 1 tbsp meat and coat with cornstarch.

Drain the glutinous rice.

Roll the meatballs in the rice and press the rice gently onto the ball.

Line a steamer with cabbage leaves and place the meatballs on top.

Steam for 20 minutes in high heat.

Serve with Hoisin sauce.
